home / about / table orientation
We move in a Left to Right fashion with the Kam locks. If you start with a rectangle module, the Female should be on the LEFT side and the Male should be on the RIGHT side. If you add a corner module (99% of all corner modules are Right Corner Modules) then the FEMALE will receive the MALE from the rectangle table. Once the corner has been made (90 degree), the corner module male will engage the next module.
Here are some examples:
When you see the Hole as illustrated on the Octamod below, that is where the Kam (or Male side) is located. On an Octamod or on Quad Mods, there are two Male sides one right after the other, and two Female sides, one right after the other.

You can see the Kam and dowels clearly on these 18" wide rectangular modules.
A very large Quad Mod is shown below (48" x 48"). There are two male Kams on two sides, and two female receivers on two sides.
On this T-Mod the Female receiver is on the Left, the Male Kam is on the Right. We always try to work in an Left to Right direction. That way you won't end up ordering custom tables to make connections.
On some layouts, just due to the design, custom Male Kams and or Female receivers are required. We don't see it too often, however it happens. We will make tables to specification when we can. There are extra fees involved... but our clients have a desire to get the product they need.
